After the Symposium

In 2017, Highways England worked with some leading researchers to take a strategic look at the role of behaviour in a safe road system. Drawing together prominent academics, practitioners and research funders from a range of domains the ‘Road Safety Behaviour Symposium’ asked some challenging questions about what is changing in our understanding of behaviour and in our use of the roads.

The subsequent thinkpiece ‘Paving the Way’ was the first step with a the development of training and toolkits to follow, all supported by ongoing multi-sectoral and interdisciplinary engagement.

The event and follow up was organised by Road Safety Analysis, a not-for-profit company specialising in many areas of transport safety, research, technology, training, intervention design and evaluation.
